Maxi Cosi group 1 car seats

As you probably already know, I'm a huge fan of Maxi Cosi. I have owned several of their products and have been very happy with them.

My son had a CabrioFix as his first car seat, then we had a Priori SPS that we borrowed from friends to see how it was, then we bought a fabulous Axiss car seat and we recently had a Tobi for a couple of weeks.

Here's a few photos of those car seats:

I wish I had known how dangerous it was to move our son to a forward facing car seat at such young age!

Unfortunately we found out about extended rear facing car seats a few weeks after buying the Maxi Cosi Axiss. We simply couldn't afford to buy another expensive seat at that time.

Thankfully we now have a stunning Axkid Minikid and our son is back in a rear facing car seat and we don't have to worry about his safety.

When we were researching ERF seats we really wanted to stick with the only brand we knew and had already tried - Maxi Cosi.
We found out that Maxi Cosi only had one ERF seat in their range, a Maxi Cosi Mobi. It has the same shell as the Priori so it's doubtfull it would last the 25 kg weight limit (Priori's weight limit is 18kg). Unlike other ERF seats it's difficult to install and doesn't fit well in many cars.

But here's the great news!
Maxi Cosi are launching their 2way Pearl with a new 2way Fix base!

I think this is something we were all waiting for. Finally after years of making just one(!) extended rear facing car seat, they managed to come up with a new fantastic seat!

I can't wait to see it in stores!

Many parents already trust Maxi Cosi with their children's safety so hopefully the new ERF range will be very popular!

Axkid Minikid car seat

Group 1/2
From 9-25 kg

Here's a little info from the Axkid's website:

Minikid Rear Facing Car Seat - 9-25 kg

The Axkid Minikid Rear Facing Car Seat is designed to provide the safety benefits of rear facing seating combined with maximum comfort and can be fitted in a range of cars from small to large. Because it is a compact car seat, it requires only a minimal amount of space for installation.

The Minikid is equipped with unique, automatically tightening tether straps to make assembly easy, you simply connect each strap then rock the seat from side to side until the seat is firmly in place.

The adjustable front leg means you can easily recline the seat for the comfort of your child and the extra long support leg ensures a stable installation can be achieved in a variety of vehicles.

Another great feature of the Minikid is the adjustable head support that adapts to the perfect position for your child as the harness is tightened.  The head support also has a parking brake to increase the comfort for smaller children.

Key Benefits of the Axkid Minikid include:
  • Easy installation in any seat in your vehicle that has a 3-point seat belt.
  • Integrated 5-point harness and head rest which automatically adjusts to perfectly fit your child.
  • Unique tether strap tightening function.
  • Five reclining positions for maximum comfort.
  • Deep side wings for extra side impact protection.
  • Extra long support leg to enable installation in a wide variety of vehicles.
  • Seat cover machine washable in 30º.

The Axkid Minikid has also passed the rigorous Swedish Plus Test, the strictest crash safety test for child restraint systems. It's one of the safest extended rear facing car seats available to buy.

First impressions are very good but there doesn't
seem to be any padding in the seat itself for child comfort.
